My role was to design hardware, embedded software, and PC software which comprised a nation-wide utility submetering system. Water, gas, and electricity comsumption were monitored. Other types of low-bandwidth meters or sensors could have easily been substituted. At the peak, approximately 15,000 meters were monitored daily. The system could have easily scaled to any number nodes. This is just one of the extra measures incorporated into our new line of metering systems. Our new meter modules have been re-engineered to now accommodate up to 6 meters on one module versus the old standard one meter per module. Each of these modules are pre-programmed to your specific property. Using your property's unit numbering, the modules are labeled so that when the server cabinets are delivered to the site, the only task requiring some effort will be matching the interior wiring to the assigned terminals on the modules. Clearly the most user friendly format to date. Each module's circuit board and components are completely encapsulated in resin to provide 100% protection from the elements. This is and has been one of the leading causes of component failures in other systems. It is our attention to details that has allowed DMI to provide reliable submetering solutions to developers and owners alike. |
